Common Sense PR Cracks the Top 150 Marketing Blogs List

by Eric Eggertson on March 26th, 2007

The Power 150 List goes international.

Power 150 logoNow that Todd Andrlik has extended his Power 150 List of top marketing blogs outside the U.S., Common Sense PR is in a tense battle to move up from 132nd spot.

Having reviewed the metrics, my first strategy will be to delete all my competitors from my BlogLines account, which I haven’t used in two months.  Like a lot of blog readers, I’ve moved on to another package, but the number of subscriptions to BlogLines is one of the four measurements that combine to automatically generate the list.

This is the problem with any metrics that are used as a standard.  When people abandon the standard, there’s a period of instability before the metrics are adjusted.

Do I launch a campaign to get subscribers to add me to their old Bloglines lists?  Do I sabotage my competitors by hacking into Technorati and changing their tags from Marketing and PR to Sewing and Basket Weaving?  Sure, I could just write good posts that increase my page rank and Technorati ranking, but that sounds like a lot of work.

Maybe I should slip Mr. Andrlik some cash, to increase his appreciation for this blog.  I’ll start by linking back to his list.  After I check my account balance, I’ll see if I can afford a bribe.

Life was simpler when Andrlik’s list excluded me for not being American.  That made the list biased and unworthy of me.

Now I’m seized with the irrational need to move higher on the list.  Argh!

    Congrats on the ranking.

You could always just write something outlandish, about how the States should bomb Iran - it works for conservative/Republican bloggers for attention.

Ed: Let me guess which blog…

Saskboy: What’s outlandish about the U.S. bombing Iran? It’s only one letter away from Iraq, which is very close in Bizarro World.

Kami: What I meant to say what that we’re all one big happy family in the business blogging community, and I’m sure everyone who is higher on the rankings than me is worthy of my admiration and assistance. Once they are choking in my dust, I will extend a hand of friendship to them!
