Speaking on ‘PR in the Blogiverse’ April 17
I’m not one of those thought leader gurus who spend half the year speaking at conferences. But I’ll be spending next Tuesday talking blog to a bunch of PR folks in Regina.
I’ll be speaking to the local chapter of the Canadian Public Relations Society about monitoring your online reputation, engaging critics and taking advantage of opportunities to engage with stakeholders online.
To open, I’ll do the usual thing of asking people what they know about blogs and social media. Not to make a big point about how informed, or out of touch people are. It’s more to help determine the level of jargon I can use, and the extent to which I need to explain the basics.
I will, of course, provide some examples of online reputation management and how it can be an extension of traditional PR functions. Because Regina’s a government town, I’ll spend some time on the sensitivities of bureaucrats stomping around the blogosphere.
If you’re in Regina and want to attend, visit the CPRS Regina site for the details, and e-mail right away to reserve a seat.
Once I’m done, I’ll post the presentation.
