Google’s Public Policy Blog Opens a Door

by Eric Eggertson on June 19th, 2007

Google regularly gets dragged into controversies about its values and the impact of its actions on competitors, clients and the public.

As recently as 2005, there was only one public policy person at the company involved in public policy work says Andrew McLaughlin in a post on the company’s new blog.

Some of the issues they’ll cover: privacy, child online safety, copyright and trademark protection, content regulation, reform of the patent system, and broadband policy.

It’s good to see Google recognizing that they’re not just a search company any more, and that the complexity of their relationships requires discussion about a number of issues that don’t involve algorythms and advertising sales. Link via WebPro News.
