Quick Tip: Shake Things Up
We spend way too much time in our comfort zone, dealing with issues that make us feel safe, using methods that have worked well in the past.
There’s nothing wrong with duplicating past successes, but that isn’t where you want to spend your whole career.
Be aware of opportunities to take small (or large) chances, and experiment with less proven methods of accomplishing your goals. Try working with a new person or team. Leave your favorite tools in the toolbox, and see how well you do anyway.
I like to throw myself into situations that require me to move forward, instead of treading water or moving back to familiar ground.
In the end, I may end up using the safer work, and leaving the experiment in reserve. But sometimes the experimental work has a tension about it that I can’t get when I’m playing it safe.

With complacence comes fear of change. Just a thought, and thanks for putting this out there.

Don’t get me wrong. I like my comfort zone. That’s why I have to make a conscious effort to go beyond.
