It’s not every industry that gives away what would ordinarily be the key proprietary assets: source codes, communication protocols, content.
In the spirit of barcamps and podcamps before it, Jeremiah Owyang is offering to hold an impromptu trade-show-cum-unconference that defies the rules of trade shows. Instead of the vendors’ products and services being at the centre […]

The Canadian Autoworkers’ Union is appalled that GM is closing factories that produce trucks and performance cars.
Their showdown with management fizzled recently when the courts ruled they couldn’t blockade GM offices and plants just because they don’t like decisions made by management.
How utterly lame.
CAW head Buzz Hargrove was patting himself on the back a […]

A communications plan, like most business plans, has to anticipate that things might not go as planned.
If you can’t see the possible abrupt left turns for whatever project you’re planning, your plans are incomplete.

When life lobs a hand grenade in your general direction, the worst thing you can do is freak out. (Okay, if you’re caught […]

The discussions I followed this weekend indicated that symbolic events have a place, but the optics of spending a piddly hour each year on the subject is unfortunate.
I poked some fun […]

Effective entrepreneurs and executives need to be decisive. However, smart managers also need to be able to examine their options with an open mind.
That’s why it’s important to identify the assumptions you make, and consider the consequences if your assumptions are wrong.
Someone needs to play the devil’s advocate, without being labelled as having a […]
